Inter Milan will not let teenage striker Francesco Pio Esposito leave this summer after rejecting interest from Atalanta.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that Inter Milan have a long-term plan for 20-year-old striker Esposito, who will start playing for the first team from the 2025-26 season, and there is no intention of letting him go in any form.

The young striker had shone playing for Inter’s youth teams over the last few seasons. And so the decision was made that it is time for him to take the step up to senior football.

And while nothing has been easy for Pio Esposito at Spezia, there have been positive signs.

The Inter-owned striker scored for the Ligurians in a 2-1 win over Venezia on Friday.

Manchester United had previously enquired about Esposito’s chances back in January, when the young striker was on loan at Serie B side Spezia, while Atalanta only enquired a few days ago during talks with Inter over Ademola Lukeman.

Esposito has been on loan at Serie B side Spezia for the past two seasons. Scoring just three goals in 39 games in his first season but scoring 19 in 40 games last term, leading to a return to Inter at the FIFA Club World Cup where he scored once.
